Jazz & Milk enters the third round with their highly successful Jazz & Milk Breaks series. Six individual tracks with various influences ranging from Jazz, Funk, Latin to Afro and percussive Beats have already attracted a lot of attention on the Munich Jazz & Milk dance floors and finally made their way onto this versatile vinyl release.
The records starts off with “Innocent Sorcerers”’ very own Envee who has turned Pinnawela’s tune “You Can Dance” into a wonderful and swinging jazz dance anthem. The track is followed by percussion maestro César Granados. His unique and vintage version of Dizzie Gillespie’s latin-jazz classic “Manteca” is a true dance floor filler. The Snip’s double bass driven downtempo bomb “El Boom” rounds off side A!
On the flipside The Jivers, a new production duo out of Barcelona present a clubby jazz-hit called “Do What” featuring the unique voice of Anqui. Label head Dusty also joins the compilation with the remix of The Boogoos’ afro-funk track “The Journey / Ghana ‘74”. Finally Greenwood Rhythm Coalition from New York’s great “Names You Can Trust” imprint deliver a brilliant DJ bomb called “Cotonou Caravan”. | | 2009-06-30 14:36:05 | | | Buenos Aires at Night EP |
The Buenos Aires at Night EP by Wally Stryk has been put together after listening and enjoying the music of South American producers. You can feel some nostalgia in Wally’s creations, but the pounding House rhythms will throw you right in the middle of any dancefloor.
Title track, Buenos Aires at Night is very much on the tech house tip and is heavily influenced by the music played at top Buenos Aires night spots. This track drives on a catchy minimal sub-bass and the irresistible tech house lead.
Cumbre de Patagonia is a progressive house track with modern trance elements. The energetic bass and strong lead in this tune make it perfect for any progressive or trance situation!
Dale Baldwin remixes the title track and delivers an effortlessly jacked up and funky electro house version that is sure to be a hit amongst any progressive and house crowd. | | 2009-06-18 02:50:56 | | | New Tradition by Santucci Scoppa |
Santucci Scoppa are the old-skool kings of Italian Jazz. The trumpet and tenor players Cicci Santucci and Enzo Scoppa led the group. Having been playing together since the late 60’s they are the most iconic duo that the Italian collector jazz scene has seen ever.
Their album On The Underground Round was a milestone in the European jazz-funk collectors’ movement. That is an excellent hard bop session recorded in Italy in the early 70's. The whole thing grooves along with a sound that's similar to the late 60's recordings on Blue Note. Besides this one, some of the most interesting albums from the 70’s were featuring the mighty duo: from Kenny Clark’s ‘Jazz A Confronto’ on Horo, to the super rare ‘ Chet is Back ‘ by Chet Baker (long time friend during his Roman years). With Horo’s label boss Aldo Sinesio, Santucci Scoppa recorded two incredible sound-library LP (Looking Around & Mondo Operaio) that many times have been championed by DJs like Gilles Peterson & Big Bang, and are extremely sought after by DJs worldwide. | | 2009-06-11 09:03:26 | | | Grammy - Nominated Basiru Suso release "The World Alive" |
